Frequently Asked Questions

What is Forum for Change?

Forum for Change is a network of ministries who are already working for change in UK society. It is not just another organisation. It's a forum to aid existing partnerships and help form new ones in a common agenda.

Who is part of it?

Agencies and churches who want to see long-term positive changes in our culture. And through these mobilising bodies, the thousands of Christians who also have a deep longing to see change in the UK.

Why does it exist?

We believe that the Holy Spirit is calling us to work together to see lasting spiritual and cultural change in society.  The Forum will exemplify that unity.  We also believe that our nation deserves a more effective and co-ordinated Church.  It recognises the need for an organic yet strategic meeting place which reduces duplication, avoids competition and maximises our witness.

What are its objectives?

Long-term planning and short-term responses.  We recognise the place for legitimate protest as short-term responses to immediate concerns.  But the Forum will go beyond this, tackling root causes, and changing attitudes within our spheres of influence.

The Forum will not displace any individual agency or vision.  It aims to create an environment where organisations can really work to their strengths, are supported and joined by others with similar aspirations, and are enabled to achieve their vision through connectedness.  It wants to stimulate change, creating a legacy for future generations, inspired by Christian values.

How does it work?

The Forum is a one-stop-shop.  Our society is significantly shaped by five cultural drivers; Politics, the Media, Business, Education and the Arts.  The unique feature of the Forum will be bringing together specialists within these areas.  Key areas such as health, justice, the environment, or even mobilising the Church, will also be integral to the Forum's work.

The Forum brings together prayer, strategic thinking and knowledge sharing, the widest network of relationships, and collaborative action and campaign.  We are well-versed in the problems of society; this is a serious attempt to develop workable strategies with you, the practitioners on the ground, to bring signficant change.

The relationships and knowledge within the clusters will be stimulated and developed by the website facility and annual conference.  These will facilitate your conversation, with your colleagues, about the transformational work God is doing.

Why should I play?

Because you're already doing the work that is needed to transform society.  Forum for Change would not exist if this was not the case.  Whether your part of the story is in research, providing practical resources for the church, advocacy or lobbying, or you have specialist knowledge, educational skills or political savvy, we have all the resources required.  What is missing is some cohesion.

As they say, the sum of us is bigger than the individual parts.

How does it benefit my ministry?

If your primary aim is to get ahead alone, the Forum is not for you!  If your mindset is to maximise effectiveness by working together, the Forum should serve us well.

We think the Forum will add value to you by giving you access to good quality information and research, and provide you with the widest network of relationships.  It should give opportunities for cost cutting and more impacting collaboration with like-minded organisations or campaigns.

The Forum is about being alltogether.  There are many partnerships working well and that should never be devalued.  But the Forum will draw us together to be more effective in transforming society for our children.
